Fancy? This isn’t Fancy! There aren’t even any chandeliers….

From Luna:

Hi, I’m missing all of you! I have some things that I would like to tell you.

My favorite things in Sri Lanka:

I like the beaches, the elephants, the palm trees. I like the water, and I like how many swimming pools there are. I like seeing lotus flowers, too. I liked the lily pad hats. I loved the little boat rides- the catamaran ride and I loved my day today playing with Thejani. Thejani works at our hotel and she taught me how to make flower garlands, and she colored with me. We even had a little snack. We just went to the pool today, we are washing all of our clothes in the sinks and we are drying all our clothes on lights and hangers. And I love how many trees there are. I even got a new dress that has elephants on it and I love it, too. I like the people here and think they are kind, better here than China.

In China, I was given some stuffed animals as presents from people that we met. One of them is named Chengdu, and I got one that is named penguin, from our guide Sophie. I sleep with Chengdu every night now. One of my favorite parts of the trip was the day at The Great Wall- I loved the big steps and the views. China was okay, it was crazy in China. Japan was good, great! It’s a lot cleaner in Japan than in China. I’m looking forward to playing on the beach in the Maldives.

Love, Luna

FUN QUOTES FROM LUNA ALONG THE WAY:

At dinner one night at Master Campers at Udawalawe National Park:
“This isn’t camping Luna, It’s glamping- which means glamorous camping.”- Carly
“What’s glamorous?”- Luna
“Fancy” -Josh
“Fancy? This isn’t fancy. There aren’t even any chandeliers…”-Luna
(we laughed so very much at this comment from her)

(During a torrential thunder and lightning storm in Ulawalawe National Park)
Luna  “This is like the It’s A Small World Ride.  Our truck is a boat in water.”  She then proceeded to sing It’s A Small World for the next 40 minutes as we drove around in the rain while the roads turned into rivers.

“I think that Nashville is special because I don’t have to brush my teeth outside my house, or use bottled water.” (this was after a visit to a small village and seeing toothbrushes and mirror propped up against a tree, because there was no indoor plumbing)

“Look at us! We’re a turtle family with our shells”- walking in train station with backpacks

“I like the temples, but I’m done with them. I don’t want to see anymore. Bleh”- Luna about Sri Lankan temples

“This is great! I’m really glad we are traveling”
